1. Acetylene(C2H2) reacts with the following :
1. Water : Acetylene(C2H2) on warming with water in presence of Dilute Sulfuric acid(H2SO4) and Mercury(II) sulfate(HgSO4) gives Ethanal(CH3CHO).
2. Hydrogen Halide : Acetylene(C2H2) give gem dihalide when it reacts with 2 moles of hydrogen halide(HBr)
3. Dihydrogen: Acetylene(C2H2) on addition with H2 give Ethane(C2H6).
4. Cyclic Polymerisation : Acetylene(C2H2) undergoes cyclic polymerisation when it is passed through red hot iron tube at 873K and forms Benzene(C6H6).
